Built in 2007 these row homes offer a vision for North Park’s architectural future. These have come about due to city zoning, lot proportion, marketability and economics. I’ll say I’m not thrilled about the layout. The row homes are perpendicular to the street, close to one another and to the property lines. Windows look directly to the opposing row homes without much distance or vegetation to obscure the view. When adjacent properties are developed the windows and balconies will be oh so close to the new tall buildings. With these types of row homes each unit has an attached garage. To have better balcony and window placement the design would need to have a common, shared garage creating condominiums instead of row homes.

Original built in 1926 the owner added to his house about 3 years ago. He did such a great job making the new to look the old that its impossible to know and point out the addition. Every thing about the house, the color, the walkway entrance and landscaping works so very well together. Kudos!
The house is located at 3586 Mississippi Street, San Diego, CA 92104 south of Dwight Street.
This house is of a different design than those 1920’s homes we see in North Park. It’s a very simple and formal facade with rustic wood shutters—that look like they may be operable—and wrought iron railings. The tax records say it was built in 1924. I can’t tell if the rustic trimmings are original or some one more recently did a great restoration job making things a little more rustic than would have been done in the 1920s.
It’s located at 2844 29th Street, San Diego, CA 92104 at Palm Avenue.

This rear-of-lot carriage house has a nice bi-lateral symetry and a good scale. The changes over the years adds to its charm. It’s located on Louisiana Street between Whiteman and Dwight.
